Member's Commitment

Having, through the word of God (Jam. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23; Rom. 10:17) been brought to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thess. 2:13-14; Acts 16:14) as the way, the truth and the life (Jn. 3:36, 14:6; Acts 4:12); by His grace (1 Cor. 15:10; 1 Pet. 5:12) we commit ourselves in dependence and humility (Isa. 66:2b; Mic.6:8; 2 Cor. 12:9-10; Eph. 4:2), by the power of His Spirit (Jn. 15:5; Rom. 8:13-14) to love, obey, worship and glorify the Triune God; to walk in the truth (Jn. 17:17; 3 Jn. 3:3-4) and to love our brothers and sisters in Christ bearing the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23; Col. 3:12-17), and seeking by life and by speech to love and bring the gospel to all who don’t yet know Christ (Rom. 9:1-2; Matt. 28:18-20; Eph. 5:16; Col. 4:6).

We commit to work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3); to rejoice in each other’s happiness and endeavor to bear one another’s burdens and sorrows (Rom. 12:15; Gal. 6:1-2). With gratitude for all that we have in Christ (1 Thess. 5:18; Rom. 8:32; Eph. 2:7) we seek to lay down our lives as living sacrifices, (Luke 9:23-24; Rom. 12:1-2) denying ungodliness and worldly lusts (1 Thess. 3:3; 2 Tim. 2:19; Tit. 2:12), devoting ourselves by prayer (Col. 4:2; Luke 18:1) and meditation upon the word of God (Ps. 1:2; Jn. 17:17; 1 Pet. 2:2) to renewal of our minds (Rom. 12:2; Eph. 4:23; Col. 3:10) and conformity to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). We desire to advance the glory of God in the exercise of our gifts in His body the church (Rom. 12:6-8; 1 Cor. 12:7; 1 Pet. 4:10-11) and to serve where we can as opportunities arise.

We submit ourselves to the pastoral leadership of this church (Heb. 13:17; Matt. 18:17) and its constitution, and will seek to faithfully love and exhort and also receive the same from our fellow brothers and sisters (Matt. 18:15-20; Luke 17:3; Gal. 6:1). We will purpose to faithfully meet with the people of God in corporate worship, fellowship and hospitality (Heb. 10:24-25; Acts 2:42, 46; 1 Pet. 4:8-11); support by prayer, talent, time and treasure the work of Christ in this local church and as we are able, throughout the world (1 Cor. 9:8-14; 2 Cor. 8:7, 9:7; Col. 4:2-4; 1 Tim. 2:1-4, 5:18). We will ever love the Lord Jesus Christ and His people (Matt. 22:36-40; John 13:35; 1 Cor. 13:1-8, 16:22; 1 John 4:7-11, 19-21) and will unite ourselves to another local church if we choose to leave this one (Heb. 10:24; 3 Jn. 4).

May the grace of the Lord Jesus, the favor of our heavenly Father and the strength of the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14; 2 Thess. 3:16, 18) empower us to live this life worthy of the gospel (Phil. 1:27) by which we’ve been called; and may God grant us ongoing repentance (1 John 1:9; Prov. 28:13; 2 Tim. 2:25), fresh apprehensions of His mercy when we fail (Ps. 51:1-4; Joel 2:13) and grace to persevere until death (Matt. 10:22, 24:13; Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 26, 3:5, 12, 21). To His glory we seek to live, so help us God (1 Cor. 10:31; Col. 3:17; 2 Chron. 14:11; Ps. 79:9).
